Hey everyone! More of a informal story for you today.
Before we get started I wanted to send a big THANK YOU to everyone who has donated or send us supportive messages. You have no idea how much we appreciate it. The love we get from everyone in the Wildwoods and throughout the country has been amazing.
Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine things in my family have been out of wack.
For those who don’t know, my wife is born and raised in Ukraine and her entire family still lives there.
Not to get into the gruesome news which I do report on via my TikTok JoeyContino2, Julia and I have been doing everything we can to help support her hometown of Lyubeshiv.
In the past 80 days, we have raised over $20,000 in monetary donations and in military gear.
Ukraine Update – Your Donations Are Saving Lives!
In many organizations, you donate and you don’t know what your money gets used for. Today I will break down where your money is going and what Julia and I are doing to stretch every penny.
[Just a note, I show you many photos and videos in the Youtube link at the bottom of this page]
There are a few ways that we have been collecting donations to help out different organizations.
When we did the Wildwoods Walkathon for Ukraine, $15,000 was collected and donated to the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America. Here the money was sent over to Poland where military tactical medical bags were put together.
The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America also donates to organizations such as Razom for Ukraine.
Razom for Ukraine, which translates to “Together for Ukraine” has raised over $40 Million for aid for Ukraine. Weeks after the walkathon we were asked if we would like to volunteer with Razom to put together military tactical medical bags (molle bags).
For the past few weeks, Julia and I have been going to the Razom center (inside the MEEST shipping center) and have personally helped put together over 4,000 of these bags.
Once together MEEST (Ukrainian transport company) ships them over to Ukraine to be used on the front line.
It’s an amazing feeling to know that the next time those bags are open they will be used on the front line to live a life.
If you want to help package these bags feel free to reach out to me ([email protected]). We do them at the MEEST center in Port Reading, NJ. (exit 12 on the Turnpike).
Now for the exciting news. For those who have donated to us via Venmo (Julia-Contino) we have a laundry list of things we have done to help out our Julia’s hometown.
We have purchased everything from medical supplies, helmets, bulletproof vests, boots, bags, food, uniforms, gas for tanks and more.
We also shipped out the $10,000 worth of military equipment that we collected over the past few weeks. They received that package this past Tuesday.
The biggest thing we did was purchased a car that will be loaded with all of the military equipment we sent over and paid for, and will be driven to the frontline to be used by the soldiers.
This car arrived this past Sunday (see the video in our youtube video) and was painted green.
The sad news is that many of Julia’s classmates have been called into battle and will be driving the car to the frontlines.
We wish them love and prayers as they fight for their freedom.
Thank you all again for your amazing support. If you want any more information or just walk to talk about what’s going on send me an email.
Below is a video breaking down everything we are doing including photos of the equipment from Ukraine.
