Gourmet Dessert at a South Jersey Gas Station – Buon Gusto Express
Last week a few photos from a gas station went viral in many South Jersey food groups. You might be saying, why is a gas station being featured for food, well the answer might surprise you.
At the Riggins Gas Station at 401 S Main Street in Cape May Court House, a new food establishment opened in the old convenience store building next to the pumps last year.
While many of these stores are filled with Wawas, Royal Farms, or Quick Marts, this one is filled with gourmet food thanks in part to Buon Gusto Express.
Buon Gusto Express. might sound familiar because if you drive down 55 through Dennisville, you may have passed their first location, Buon Gusto.
Buon Gusto, for those without Google translate, means ‘good taste.’
For over a decade, Buon Gusto’s owner and operator Victor Lucas has been changing the way people think of fresh meals to go.
Instead of normal stores that sell hoagies, wraps, and pre-packaged foods, Buon Gusto sells beef stew, kabobs, chicken parm, shrimp alfredo, empanadas with shrimp, chicken or beef, and chicken francaise made fresh.
This is on top of their massive slices of pizza stacked with fresh toppings from steak to buffalo chicken.
Working in every aspect of the food business, Victor wanted to provide top-of-the-notch food that is affordable for all families.
This had become more than a passion project for him but rather a mission to nourish and uplift his community, a dedication to providing wholesome meals that not only satisfied hunger but also to bring joy and comfort to those he served.”
The Wildwood Video Archive stopped by Buon Gusto Express to tour selection and to try what made them go viral, their desserts.

While Buon Gusto Express just opened a year ago, it is already expanding into something never seen in these kinds of locations, gourmet desserts.
Not too long back Victor hired pastry chef Shiv Jagdele to create some tasty treats under the new bakery brand called Cake Lab.

Shiv had experience making these desserts while working for several restaurants and even on cruise ships.
On the day of our tour, we were able to see him make mango cake, tiramisu, chocolate mousse, cannoli, and three letcha.
We decided to try three letcha and mango cakes and both were absolutely amazing.
Customers will be able to purchase these cakes as slices or even get some of them as full cakes. Since they are making these desserts in-house, they are even able to make you a custom cake.
In the future, this location will expand even more adding in breads, salads, and fruit on the go.
If this all sounds amazing to you, you are in luck. Victor and his crew are getting ready to open up another location in Wildwood at the Sinclair Gas Station at 325 W Rio Grande Ave. This location should be open a few months.
