Al the Steak King’s Return to North Wildwood Is Moving Fast

Just over a month after the announcement that Al the Steak King would be making its return to the Wildwoods, we now have our first real update and it’s a big one.

Renovations are officially underway at their future home at 2010 New Jersey Avenue in North Wildwood, and based on new photos, progress is already moving quickly.

From the outside, not much may have changed yet. But step inside, and it’s clear that this is no small refresh. The entire space is being reworked from the ground up to bring this longtime Wildwood favorite back to life.

The biggest highlight right now is the interior transformation.

Photos show a completely reimagined layout starting to take shape.

A brand back counter has been installed along the back side of the building, featuring a new massive oven. This area used to be an arcade with a few pinball and retro arcade games.

Surrounded by the oven are bold red wall tiles that immediately stand out. It’s a strong visual choice and one that hints at the return of their red color of the Al the Steak King’s that we remember growing up.

The setup suggests they are building this space not just for cheesesteaks, but for a full menu operation just like the original locations were known for.

The flooring has also been updated with a black and white checkered pattern, giving the space a classic boardwalk style feel while still keeping things clean and modern. It’s the kind of detail that longtime fans will appreciate, as it blends nostalgia with a fresh new look.

Seating is starting to come together as well. Several high top tables and metal chairs have already been brought in, indicating that this location will offer dine in options, not just takeout. That’s a big deal, especially for a spot that used to be known for late night food runs and quick stops off the boardwalk.

Looking around the space, you can still see some unfinished areas, including exposed framing behind the counter and ongoing electrical work. But that’s expected at this stage. The important part is that real progress is happening and it’s happening fast.

As a reminder, this location was previously home to Five Girls Sandwich Shop. There’s still no official word on what happened with that business or if they plan to relocate.

What we do know is that Al the Steak King is clearly pushing forward with its comeback, and this latest update makes it feel more real than ever.

Between the active construction and the amount of work already completed, it’s safe to say that this isn’t just talk anymore. The return of one of Wildwood’s most iconic food spots is officially in motion.

No official opening date has been announced yet, but based on the current pace, a summer debut still seems very possible.

They are currently hiring, so if you are interested in a summer job!
