Breeze Airways Expands at Atlantic City Airport After Spirit Exit
If you’re anything like us, when you heard that Spirit Airlines were closing their doors for good, you started to get nervous since they were your go-to airline at the Atlantic City airport if you didn’t want to take the drive all the way up to Philadelphia. And while there is some good news today, not for Spirit Airlines, but for Breeze Airways.
Breeze Airways announced late Saturday that it will add four new routes from Atlantic City International Airport, including a daily nonstop service to Orlando beginning July 3. The move comes shortly after Spirit Airlines confirmed it would be ending all service from the airport, leaving many travelers scrambling to adjust plans.

Breeze Airways Expands at Atlantic City Airport After Spirit Exit
Breeze, which first announced its arrival at ACY back in January, appears to be stepping in to fill that sudden void. The airline is already set to begin its initial service this week with nonstop flights to Charleston, South Carolina.
From there, the expansion accelerates quickly:
- Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina begins June 11
- Tampa, Florida launches July 1
- Orlando, Florida begins daily service July 3, with fares starting at $89 one way
By the end of 2026, the number of destinations available from Atlantic City will more than double compared to earlier this year.
Newly Announced Routes
In addition to Orlando, Breeze revealed three more routes set to roll out later this year:
- Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: Thursdays and Sundays starting October 22, from $49 one way
- Fort Myers, Florida: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays starting October 22, from $89 one way
- West Palm Beach, Florida: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays starting December 17, from $89 one way
These additions significantly expand leisure travel options from South Jersey, particularly to popular beach and vacation destinations.
The South Jersey Transportation Authority, which operates the airport, praised the announcement and its timing.
Executive Director Stephen F. Dougherty said in a press release that the expansion helps maintain critical air service for the region and ensures travelers continue to have access to affordable and convenient destinations.
“The timely launch of this service reflects the strength of the market,” Dougherty said, emphasizing the importance of keeping Atlantic City connected following Spirit’s departure.
Founded by aviation entrepreneur David Neeleman, Breeze Airways has positioned itself as a low-cost carrier focused on underserved routes.
The airline operates a fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft and promotes a customer-friendly model that includes free family seating, onboard WiFi, flexible booking policies, and no change or cancellation fees.
Many hope this could be the answer to ‘what happens to cheap flights after Spirit is gone.’ Do you have a flight planned from Breeze Airways out of Atlantic City?
