Let’s Dive In!

What’s New on the Wildwood Boardwalk in 2026
MIKEY’S ISLAND BOARDWALK BAR
Located at 20th and the boardwalk, Mikey’s Island Bar brings a tropical island atmosphere to the North Wildwood section of the boardwalk.
It gives visitors another option for drinks, seafood, and casual dining right along the boards. It’s also one of the few new full-service restaurants to open directly on the Boardwalk in recent years and will feature on some nights dueling pianos which is amazing.
Word to the wise, do try their pina colada, as it is already been given the name of the best of on the island.
SCOOP DEVILLE ICE CREAM
Located just on the other side of 20th is SCOOP DEVILLE, a legendary Philadelphia ice cream brand that first opened back in 1989.
Located at 20th Street and the Boardwalk alongside John’s Water Ice, Scoop DeVille is famous for its unique blending process that mixes candies, cookies, sauces, and other toppings directly into the ice cream.
Rather than simply putting toppings on top, every bite is packed with flavor from start to finish.
The menu features over-the-top creations inspired by Philadelphia culture, and with decades of history behind the brand, it’s bringing a completely different ice cream experience to the Wildwood Boardwalk this summer.
SHORE AVE COFFEE CO.
Shore Ave Coffee Co., located right next to Fractured Prune at 21st Street. What makes this place unique is that it’s owned by the children of the family behind Fractured Prune, making it a true local family-run business. While they started selling their coffee blends inside the donut shop last summer, they’ve now expanded into a full coffee shop offering everything from espresso drinks and frozen coffees to matcha, energy drinks, and sparkling sodas.
With its modern coastal design and long lines throughout Memorial Day Weekend, Shore Ave Coffee Co. is already shaping up to be one of the Boardwalk’s must-visit new spots for 2026.
JACK’S BAR
Jack’s is a new bar located on Morey’s Piers’ Surfside Pier, occupying the first floor of Joe’s Fish Co. The venue serves as a tribute to legendary boardwalk visionary Jack Morey, whose influence helped shape the Wildwoods experience for generations.
Inside, guests will find numerous nods to Jack’s legacy, including artifacts and pieces from former rides that once operated on the piers. While the bar has not yet officially celebrated its grand opening, it is already drawing attention for its unique atmosphere, creative design, and impressive cocktail menu. The combination of boardwalk history and handcrafted drinks makes Jack’s one of the most distinctive new additions to the Wildwood Boardwalk.
WILDWOOD BOARDWALK RECONSTRUCTION
It was another off-season and another section of the world-famous boardwalk refurbished. This time it was in North Wildwood, from parts of 24th Street up until 26th Street, where instead of the Wildwood side, which repaired the boardwalk, in North Wildwood, they tore it down completely to the sand and rebuilt it from scratch.
This refurbishment also included rebuilding the ramps, new lighting, new steps, and new railings.
SKINNY JOEY’S CHEESESTEAK
Skinny Joey’s Cheesesteaks is bringing a taste of South Philadelphia to the Wildwood Boardwalk this summer.
The new restaurant will be located at Boardwalk and Magnolia Avenue in Wildwood, taking over the former Joe’s Pizzeria location. Known for its authentic Philly cheesesteaks, the shop has quickly built a loyal following at its original South Philadelphia location.
In addition to cheesesteaks, the Wildwood location is expected to serve pizza and several specialty menu items.
With its prime boardwalk location, Skinny Joey’s is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about new food destinations in Wildwood for the 2026 season.

THE NEW TRAM CAR
One of the biggest changes to the Wildwood Tramcars this season is the introduction of new Volvo EX40 electric vehicles as the lead cars. The new vehicles replace aging equipment while maintaining the iconic tramcar experience that generations of visitors have enjoyed on the boardwalk.
The all-electric Volvo offers a quieter and more environmentally friendly operation while providing modern safety and reliability features.
While the lead car may look different, riders will still hear the famous “Watch the Tramcar Please” announcement as they travel the length of the boardwalk.

SPLASH ZONE BAR & GRILLE
While Splash Zone Water Park has closed for good, out front there is something new,
The old entrance has been turned into a bar with the sky deck becoming a sitting area over the boardwalk, which creates some really cool views of the boardwalk.
While their food is fantastic, one of the things I wanted to highlight was their Splash Buckets, a play on nod to their giant water bucket in the waterpark.
They are going to have live music and will be a great spot to people watch this summer.
GREAT WHITE RETRACK
One of the biggest improvements this season happened behind the scenes on Morey’s Piers’ Great White roller coaster. During the offseason, the park completed a major retrack project on some of the ride’s most intense sections, replacing nearly 500 feet of track with a more durable system designed to deliver a smoother ride.
The project was years in the making and focused on improving the guest experience while preserving the classic wooden coaster everyone loves. Now that the work is complete, riders are already praising the smoother transitions and improved ride quality, making one of Wildwood’s most iconic attractions even better for 2026.

MOREY’S GIANT WHEEL REFURB
Another major change this season is the return of Morey’s iconic Giant Wheel after one of the most extensive refurbishment projects in its history. During the offseason, the entire 156-foot-tall wheel was completely disassembled, including the removal of its massive central hub for a full restoration.
Crews refurbished the structure, upgraded components throughout the ride, and reinstalled the famous lighting package featuring more than 400,000 individual LED lights. Now back on the Wildwood skyline, the Giant Wheel looks better than ever and continues to be one of the most recognizable landmarks at the Jersey Shore.
