The final weekend of August is here, and there is plenty happening throughout the Wildwoods.

And yes, we are trying hard to get summer to slow down!

From authentic Greek food and live entertainment to hundreds of tables of collectibles, Boardwalk shopping, and one of the final Farmers Markets of the summer, August 28 through August 30 offers several reasons to get out and enjoy the island.

Here’s what’s happening this weekend in the Wildwoods.

OPA Greek Fest Returns to North Wildwood

OPA! Greek Fest returns to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in North Wildwood for three days of Greek food, music, dancing and culture from Friday, August 28 through Sunday, August 30.

The festival will feature authentic Greek cuisine, spirits, traditional folk dancing, live music, a Greek DJ, Greek market items and other activities throughout the weekend.

Admission to the festival is free, with proceeds benefiting St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.

Festival Hours: Friday, August 28 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, August 29 from noon to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, August 30 from noon to 5 p.m.

The festival takes place at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 321 Saint Demetrios Street in North Wildwood.

Sports Cards, Toys, Comics & Collectibles Show

Collectors will also have a massive event to explore this weekend as the Sports Cards, Toys, Comics & Collectibles Show returns August 28 through August 30.

More than 200 tables are expected, featuring everything from sports and non-sports cards to vintage and new toys, comic books, Pokémon, Funko Pops, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic, unopened packs and boxes, jerseys, Legos, coins, posters, antiques, books and memorabilia.

Whether you’re a serious collector hunting for something specific or simply want to browse, there should be plenty to dig through.

The show runs Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Boardwalk Craft Show

The Wildwoods Boardwalk will once again turn into an outdoor marketplace this weekend with the Boardwalk Craft Show.

Vendors and artisans will line the southern end of the Boardwalk with handcrafted jewelry, artwork, home décor, beach-themed merchandise, homemade treats and other unique items.

It’s an easy event to work into a day on the Boardwalk, whether you’re looking for a souvenir, a gift or just want to browse while enjoying the oceanfront.

The Craft Show takes place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission is free, and the show is scheduled to take place rain or shine.

Downtown Wildwood Farmers Market

Saturday morning also brings another edition of the Downtown Wildwood Farmers Market at Byrne Plaza.

Held every Saturday from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, the market has grown into one of Downtown Wildwood’s largest weekly summer events.

More than 70 vendors typically participate each week, with fresh Jersey produce, baked goods, homemade pickles, local honey, breakfast sandwiches, coffee, guacamole, hot sauces, jerky and other foods available.

Shoppers can also browse dozens of craft vendors selling handmade soaps, candles, jewelry, clothing, home goods, pet products and gifts.

The market runs Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Byrne Plaza, 3400 Pacific Avenue, as well as across the street at 3501 Pacific Avenue.

Admission is free.
