Another Section of Atlantic Ave Is Getting Rebuilt in North Wildwood

Another section of Atlantic Avenue in North Wildwood is getting ready for a complete rebuild, and this one will fill in one of the remaining gaps along a stretch of the road that has seen several years of major infrastructure work.

The City of North Wildwood is currently accepting bids for Phase 3 of the Reconstruction of Atlantic Avenue.

This phase will focus on Atlantic Avenue between 4th and 6th Avenues, covering the two-block section that includes the intersection at 5th Avenue.

While only two blocks are included, this isn’t simply a repaving project.

The work calls for a full reconstruction of the street, including many of the utilities underneath it.

According to the city’s bid notice, crews will replace sanitary sewer services, water mains and water services along Atlantic Avenue between 4th and 6th Avenues.

Storm drainage improvements are also part of the project.

At street level, the contractor will install new concrete curbing, gutters and sidewalks, along with ADA-compliant curb ramps and reinforced concrete driveway aprons.

Once the underground and concrete work is completed, the roadway itself will be reconstructed and restriped.

Landscaping and hardscaping disturbed during construction will also be restored.

Basically, this section of Atlantic Avenue will be rebuilt from the underground utilities up.

The project is the latest piece of a larger reconstruction effort that has been taking place along Atlantic Avenue over the past several years.

In 2024, North Wildwood was working on sections of Atlantic Avenue from 1st to 4th Avenues and from 6th to 8th Avenues.

That left the stretch between 4th and 6th Avenues untouched.

More recently, Phase 2 continued the reconstruction northward along Atlantic Avenue between 8th and 11th Avenues. That project began in the fall of 2025, with final milling and paving taking place around March 2026.

Now the city is coming back for the missing section between 4th and 6th.

Once Phase 3 is completed, the various projects will effectively connect the reconstructed portions of Atlantic Avenue from 1st Avenue through 11th Avenue.

Contractors have until Wednesday, September 30, 2026, to submit bids for the Phase 3 project.

The bids are scheduled to be opened publicly at 2 p.m. inside the North Wildwood City Hall Court Room at 901 Atlantic Avenue.

Van Note-Harvey, a division of Pennoni, is handling the engineering for the project, with Ralph Petrella Jr. listed as the city engineer.

One important detail that isn’t included in the public notice is the construction schedule.

There is no start date or completion date listed, so we don’t know yet exactly when crews will begin work on Atlantic Avenue or how long the reconstruction will take.

Those details should become clearer after bids are opened and the project moves toward the awarding of a construction contract.

This is one of those projects we will be keeping you updated on this off-season.
