This week, the smokestack, once part of the B.L. England Power Plant, came crashing to the ground. With its demolition, a new chapter in the history of this site begins, one filled with ambitious plans for revitalization and a commitment to sustainable energy sources.
Dating back to 1961, the B.L. England Power Plant had been a fixture of the landscape along the Jersey shore. However, it wasn’t until 1986 that the distinctive smokestack was added, making it an even more recognizable part of the shoreline.

While formal plans have not yet been officially presented, both local township officials and developers share an ambitious vision for the future of the former power plant site.
