Car Crashed Into “Our Lady Star of The Sea”
Yesterday, January 23rd, around 4:50 PM Engine 51 and Tower 51 responded to a call at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish Hall (525 Washington St, Cape May, NJ). For those who don’t know, the parish is located behind the church.
Crews arrived on scene to find a Buick Enclave (SUV) in the North-West end of the building which houses classrooms. The car had left a 15 foot long hole in the wall.
Two passengers were still inside of the vehicle which caused command to requested additional resources to the scene (CMC RUST, E59 and R59). Two patients were treated by CMFD and released on scene.
Rescue 51 was able to pull the patients from the car and out of the building while the rest of the crew evacuated the parish.
Their was a natural gas leak which was secured quickly and CMC RUST supported the building with jacks so that the car could be safely removed.
Repairs will start later on this week.
Keep up the great work and God Bless our First Responders!
