Choco Tacos Are No More

Choco Tacos Are No More

For those who have been visiting our beaching for the past few decades, one thing had always stayed the same… the ice cream man’s spiel. You know the spiel.

Mostly yelled by the Fudgy Wudgy Man it goes like, “Ice Cream, Fudgy Wudgy here, Choco Taco!”

I’m sure by us just writing it out you can hear this echoing in your ears. Unfortunately we have found out that this will have to change.

Klondike, who makes the Choco Taco ice cream bar announced that they will be discontinuing the frozen snack.

A spokesperson for Klondike confirmed the news on twitter by saying “Unfortunately, the Choco Taco has been discontinued in both 1ct and 4ct packs.”

They later added that “Over the past 2 years, we have experienced an unprecedented spike in demand across our portfolio and have had to make very tough decisions to ensure availability of our full portfolio nationwide.”

The Choco Taco was introduced into the world by Jack and Jill Ice Cream employee Alan Drazen back in 1983.

The snack was only allowed to be sold via ice cream trucks until 1993 when Jack and Jill was sold to Unilever who rebranded it as Klondike.

It had gotten so popular that even food chains such as Taco Bell started selling them.

There is some promising news. In a response to another Twitter user, Klondike said that they are “working hard to find a way to bring Choco Taco back to ice cream trucks in the coming years.”

So many one day we could see this tasty summer treat back on our beaches.
