The Holidays are over and now you have the task of putting all your decorations away. While it’s sad to have the awesome smell of your Douglas fir not around there is something that you could that will make you happy… Donate your used Christmas tree.
Yes this is totally a thing. Right now the Cape May Zoo is looking for used Christmas Trees for their animals.
Trees without tinsel, ornaments, hooks, fake snow, etc. make great enrichment for the animals at the zoo. Animals like the bison and lions love the smell and push them or carry them around their yards. Other animals, like the deer and wallabies, love the tree forts made by the Cape May Zoo keepers that act as wind breaks. And some animals, like the goats, love to eat the trees!
The Christmas trees can be dropped off any day during zoo hours, 10am – 3:30pm! (until January 10th)
Below you can see a video of the Cape May Zoo bison playing with the Christmas trees. HOW COOL!!!
