Fan Favorite Store Moves Off The Wildwood Boardwalk

These past few weeks many changes have been announced for the island. From new shops coming in and businesses being sold to new hotels, things are just starting to heat up.

While the smalls of boardwalk food and the screams from the rides have disappeared into the night during the day ton of work has started.

Last week we announced that the North Wildwood Fudge Kitchen location had closed up. In its place will be a new one called Quinn’s Original Fudge Island but this isn’t the store we are talking about. Instead, if you move just next door you would know that shop as Rapunzel’s.

Over the years Rapunzel’s had become a stable on 22nd and the boardwalk selling unique items and gifts. From Wildwood wine glasses, beach pillows, signs, mugs soups, jewelry, and candles, Rapunzel’s had something for everyone.

On October 14th, their owner Scott posted some happy news. In his message he went on say;

“For three seasons we have been contemplating moving Rapunzel’s off the boardwalk, entirely. My wife and I have been building up a small shop which was initially going to be called dotSea (named as a tribute to my wife’s mom).”

“There were a few developments which prevented the opening of a fully functional shop in the years as we attempted to build it up.”

“This is the year we have decided to make the leap completely off of the boardwalk year

round! We had heard about many things in regard to Rapunzel’s coming through the rumor mills and wanted to squash any falsehoods firsthand. Our vision for the business involves high-quality items, many of which we have created ourselves, locally, or USA-made. My wife and I create items and more often than not, we don’t get a chance to feature these items in the shop due to time constraints in producing our creations. We feel that the boardwalk inhibits the growth of our business plan.”

“We plan an upscale “retro” “corner store” vibe – something we hope will help fit to preserve the old school Wildwoods! Our main product lines will feature local and made in the USA with the intention to create a unique shopping experience and a fun shopping destination.”

“Rapunzel’s will still offer a few imported items, but as stated, we have no plans to base the business upon such wares.”

“Moving off the boardwalk will also create the opportunity to spend time with family (and pets), as we may now have some time to enjoy the beach and our community as we are better able to manage our projects – and bring them to you in our shop. Our season and hours won’t be contained to typical boardwalk hours, which we are very excited about!”

You can now find “Rapunzel’s and “dotSea” at 2305 New Jersey Avenue in North Wildwood.

This location used to be a Burke & Payne Barber Shop location but they closed up not too long ago.

We want to wish Scott and his wife the best of luck in the new location. Be sure to give their Facebook page a follow!
