FIRST LOOK – The Rook Wildwood – New Bar!
Big changes are coming to Wildwood’s bar and restaurant scene!
Just yesterday, we were the first to break the news that The Rook will be taking over the former Goodnight Irene’s location on Pacific Avenue.
Now, we’ve got the first mockup photo of the building that will soon become Wildwood’s newest hotspot!
If you’ve been to Goodnight Irene’s in the past, you’ll recognize the building, but The Rook plans to give it a whole new vibe and a complete facelift.
From what we’ve heard, they’re aiming for a unique concept that will stand out in Wildwood’s bustling nightlife scene.
Right now, the space is still in its early stages, but this photo gives a glimpse of what’s to come. Could this be the start of a brand-new era for this iconic location?
Located at 2708 Pacific Avenue in Wildwood, Goodnight Irene’s Brew Pub closed its doors back in November after 17 years on the island.
The owners of The Rook in Manayunk saw the opportunity and dove in.
For those who haven’t been to The Rook in Manayunk, you’re in for a great surprise. They run a top-notch operation with an amazing crew, fantastic food, creative drinks, and an inviting atmosphere.

After the success of their first spot in Manayunk, The Rook expanded to include The Rook on 4th (1517 N 4th Street in Philadelphia) and acquired Alex’s Pizza (400 Leverington Ave in Philadelphia).
Now, they’re bringing their Philly-inspired menu with a seafood shore twist, signature cocktails, and the good vibes they’re known for to the Wildwood community.
In a new post on Instagram, they said:
“We can’t wait to meet new faces, reconnect with old friends, and become a part of this vibrant town. The countdown is on, and we’ve got lots of exciting updates coming your way as we get closer to opening!”
Alongside the post, they shared the first mockup of how The Rook Wildwood is going to look.
From the looks of it, crews will be renovating the entire building, but most of the changes will be happening on the ground level.
The existing stucco will be replaced with light-colored siding and white trim, giving it a clean, seaside appearance.
The windows will be widened to let in more light, replacing what used to be a dark-lit interior. The big red canopy will be removed, and instead, three smaller signs will be placed on the building.
And for those asking—yes, the outdoor patio will still be there, perfect for watching the Friday night fireworks.
Stay tuned as we follow the progress of The Rook Wildwood and share updates on their menu, renovations, and opening celebrations.
