Goodbye Coronado Cafe, Hello Sal’s Beachfront Cafe
This offseason there are some big changes coming to the island. One of those changes is happening over at the El Coronado Resort.
Located at El Coronado Resort 8501 Atlantic Ave in Wildwood Crest, the resort owners announced that Coronado Cafe is closing its doors.
Their message on Facebook went on to say, “After 30 years of providing excellent service and food to El Coronado’s guests, Tony and Kathleen have decided to retire. We’d like to thank them for their hand-work and dedication at the Coronado Cafe and we wish them a Happy Retirement.”
This news was something that we knew was coming since back in October, Anthony and Kathleen announced they would be stepping back.
Anthony wrote a touching post on Facebook thanking their visitors and giving folks the reason why they are retiring.
His message went on to say,
“We have loved our time here, loved welcoming you back each summer, loved coming up with new dishes for you to try and loved watching your families grow as you have watched ours grow too. We feel we are ready for our next chapter which includes more time with our family especially our grandkids. The cafe and all of our customers will always hold a special place in our hearts. We loved serving you and wish you many more great family vacation memories for years to come.”
This left the massive space open with no one knowing who would be filling it for summer 2023 until today.
El Coronado Resort announced today that Sal’s Pizza & Restaurant will be taking the lease and will rebrand as Sal’s Beachfront Cafe.
Sal’s Pizza & Restaurant has become a stable in Wildwood Crest and has been named as some of the best pizza on the island.
Owned by Cecilia and Giuseppe, they have been creating amazing Italian food for over 20 years.
“Their recipes are a perfect fusion that everyone in the family will love,” says the resort.
This space will be more than a restaurant. Sal’s is planning to open it for banquets and private party functions.
Their menu is already uploaded to the El Coronado website which included your traditional breakfast and lunch options.
Sal’s current location will continue to operate under their leadership and provide us with great lunch and dinner.
We want to wish Cecilia and Giuseppe the best of luck in their new location!
