If you’re a fan of Morey’s Pier, you may have recently experienced the thrill of their 2023 season’s final day. However, what you might not have known is that the iconic Mariner’s Arcade is about to undergo a major transformation for the 2024 season.

In a recent tweet from the official Mariner’s Arcade account, they expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their fans for an incredible year and teased, “We’re back to work today preparing for the 2024 season…Exciting things to come!”

This cryptic message set the rumor mill spinning with speculations about what’s in store for this beloved arcade.

Visitors who dropped by the arcade over the weekend couldn’t help but notice that something was indeed different.

Unlike previous years, where the last day of Mariner’s Arcade would see every game bustling with eager players trying to win those last-minute tickets for their coveted prizes, this year was unique.

Many of the machines had not only been powered down for the season but some games were entirely absent from the floor. You can witness these changes in our Morey’s Piers Closing Day 2023 video recap, which you can find at the bottom of this page.

Moreover, the primary coin booth, where patrons exchanged bills for coins, was conspicuously missing from the floor. It was found outside the arcade with a sign that read “for free.”

As it turns out, all of these alterations are part of a massive renovation plan that will be unveiled for the 2024 summer season, promising to breathe new life into the Mariner’s Arcade experience.

One of the first noticeable upgrades is the replacement of the existing colorful carpets with a fresh, vibrant design, which will undoubtedly add a pop of excitement to the arcade’s atmosphere.

The transformation process involves temporarily relocating the games to one side of the arcade, removing the old carpets, and then moving everything again to complete the other side.

These new carpets will be installed before temperatures dip below 50 degrees, ensuring a welcoming and cozy environment for visitors.

But that’s not all! Mariner’s Arcade is also gearing up for a shift to a new system based on ticket cards. These cards bear a striking resemblance to Dave and Buster’s Power Cards, promising an enhanced gaming experience.

While specific details about this new system are still under wraps, you can count on the Wildwood Video Archive to be among the first to demonstrate how it works.
