MudHen Brewing Co Expansion Plans
MudHen Brewing Co has been going through a massive transformation over the past few years.
This past summer, Sciarra Properties opened up their latest project, Mudhen’s Hen Houses!
Located at 156 E Taylor Ave in Wildwood, The Hen Houses are a combination of six cottages and a house that visitors can rent out.
Every cottage at The Hen Houses is uniquely designed to reflect the essence of a specific MudHen brew, creating a narrative that appeals to both beer enthusiasts and design connoisseurs.
The Wildwood Video Archive toured the property this past summer. You can watch the video at the bottom of this article.
MudHen Brewing Company, initially situated at 127 W Rio Grande Ave in Wildwood, has significantly expanded its footprint through the acquisition of adjacent properties.
In February of this year, public records revealed that they acquired the prominent corner lot at 101-103 W Rio Grande Ave for a substantial 2.5 million dollars.
This corner property formerly housed the Dong Sin Japanese restaurant and an attached house which did not open for the summer 2023 season.
Back in April, MudHen’s management indicated that the building would remain for a short time, but no specific plans were disclosed at that time.
Today, the long-anticipated plans for the property have been unveiled through a public notice.
The public notice, which was published on October 28th, goes into detail on what will be coming to the brewery.
Sciarra Properties, LLC, the Applicant, is seeking approval for a substantial expansion of the Mudhen Brewery & Restaurant. The planned expansion includes:
Additional Dining Areas: The project aims to create more dining space to accommodate a larger number of patrons comfortably.
Additional Retail Space: The expansion will introduce new retail areas, potentially offering merchandise and products related to the establishment.
Additional Storage Space: Ensuring efficient operations and storage facilities to cater to the restaurant’s growing needs.
Additional Landscaped Areas: The project will enhance the aesthetic appeal of the establishment by adding landscaped areas, providing an inviting atmosphere for guests.
According to the notice, the area where these new areas will take place is Lot 17 + 18 which are the lots in-which Dong Sin used to sit.
This was later confirmed when the Wildwood Preservationists uploaded photos of the proposed expansion.
The main building takes up 8,000 square feet and features a new Mudhen sign on the street corner made of stone.
It’s theme will be similar to the existing main Mudhen building but with its own separate entrance.
Wildwood residents and interested parties will have the opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns regarding this expansion project during a public hearing. The Planning/Zoning Board will conduct the hearing on November 6, 2023, at 6:00 PM at City Hall
Though we are certain that everyone is on board with this new expansion.
We wish the Sciarra family and Mudhen the best of luck!
