There is a new restaurant coming to Cape May. Please welcome to Grana to the island!
Grana is located at 413 S Broadway which was the old home for Godmothers. That restaurant closed for the season in September 2019 but didn’t reopen due to the pandemic.
New Cape May Restaurant – Grana
Prior to it being Godmothers it was The Old Ship Restaurant.
Grana will be run by Chef Carl Messick. That name should sound familiar to you since he was the head chef from Peter Shields.
Messick took to Facebook to share the good news. In his post he went on to say;
“The time has come to share the exciting news.I was presented with the opportunity to follow my ultimate childhood dream.Since the age of 14 I’ve looked up to my brother as a Chef and saw what he was doing, and I knew this is what I wanted to do.I wanted to own my own restaurant someday.Twenty-five years later I was presented with the opportunity to lease my own restaurant in Cape May.I always said that I have the best job at Peter Shields Inn and I would only leave if I could open my own place….. It’s bittersweet to leave the building I truly love but this is something I’ve always wanted and am excited to take the next step. Meg Ann and I are excited to take this leap together.We will be leasing the former Godmothers restaurant in Cape May.”
The details of Grana are still under wraps but they plan on having a soft opening by Mothers Day weekend.
According to Messick, they will have a menu that reflects our ideas of a relaxed fine dining atmosphere.
For those wanting to wish Messick good luck, he will serve up his last meals this weekend at Peter Shields.
