NEW – Curley’s Spiked Shake Ups at Morey’s Piers!
Those who were at Morey’s Surfside Pier this past weekend may have noticed something very different.
As you walk up the south side of the pier towards Cygnus X-1, you may be shocked to find a brightly painted building.
This building isn’t new, but what’s going on inside is very different.
This location has housed a few different things over the past few years.
When it was first built, it was home to Morey’s Piers Mining Company. You could purchase a bag full of sand and rocks and use a sifter in water to find precious stones.
There was a water tower on top of the building that would roll water into the water feature. It was a great immersive experience for kids (of all ages).
This only lasted a few years before the water feature was removed and the building was converted into a beverage stop where you could purchase Curley’s Famous Shake Ups.
“Curley’s Famous Shake Ups” refers to a refreshing and unique take on traditional lemonades or other fruit-based drinks.
These “Shake Ups” are often hand-shaken and freshly made, combining fresh citrus fruits, sugar, and ice to create a cold drink, which is shaken up in front of you.
For someone who used to drink one of these a week, I would say that they were a perfect drink for a hot day on the boardwalk (though I always asked for a quarter of the amount of sugar).

For summer 2024, Morey’s Piers decided to take their drink up another notch by spiking it.
Starting this year, visitors over the age of 21 can stop by this stand to get a Curley’s Spiked Shake Up.
The Spiked Shake Up comes in different flavors such as lemon, orange, and lime, and can be spiked with vodka, tequila, or bourbon.
These drinks start at $14.50 and peak at $16.
They also offer two other drink options: the John Daly Shake Up, with Tito’s vodka, lemon juice, and iced tea, or the Juan Daly Shake Up, which includes Teremana Tequila, lemon juice, and iced tea.
All of these drinks come in the signature Curley’s Shake Up cup and can be refilled for only $13.
To welcome the new drinks, Morey’s Piers painted the entire building, including the water tower, in lime green and bright yellow.
The water tower is wrapped in a way that makes it look like a Spiked Shake Up.
Is this a drink you would try on your next visit to Morey’s Piers? (And do you want us to try it and film it?) Let us know!
