Back in the Winter we announced that the City of Wildwood was putting together a 10 million dollar project to rehab the entrance to Wildwood at Rio Grand. The project was supposed to be done by summer 2019 but now is getting pushed back a year to summer 2020.
This announcement came after the company who was approved to do the work said that there wouldn’t be enough time to move utilities before the road could be raised next summer.
By utilities they are referring to companies such as Verizon, Atlantic City Electric and others.
The project, of course, would not be able to be completed during the summer months due to the summer traffic which leaves a short time after winter to get moving on the project.
For those who misses the bullet points of the project here they are.
Rio Grande will be raised 30 inches to keep it from flooding
New turning lanes will be created
The roads will be widened between Susquehanna ave and Park ave. (by 8 feet)
NJ Transit buses will have new pickup/drop off shoulders
– A new pump station will be built to push out the flood waters
