Parts of the Wildwood boardwalk have been going through a transformation.
For the past few months, the boardwalk streets between Oak Ave to Maple Ave were replaced at the cool price of $3+ million.
NEW Wildwood Boardwalk Tour 2022
Workers stripped the old boards, removed the concrete pathways, repaired the concrete support underneath before building new concrete beams and adding new boards on top.
These new boards were laid in a new style that will be very unique to the Wildwoods.
This was only staged one of a five-stage, $25 million plan which will see Wildwood’s strip of the boardwalk replaced.
The new stages of this reconstruction project will start as soon as the shoulder season ends in October. This new step (stage 2) will include 5 blocks of the Wildwood boardwalk from Maple Avenue to Magnolia Avenue. Since it’s a larger stretch of the boardwalk it will need more time but will be completed by May 2023.
This past week the city announced that this next stage would be partly funded by the US Economic Development Administration. USEDA had awarded the City of Wildwood $3.2 million for the project.
The other $4 million will be funded by Governor’s FY 2023 budget.
Stage one finished earlier than predicted and opened on Friday, May 6th. Due to the crazy weather we had, we couldn’t film a tour video.
On Monday we had 30 minutes of sunny weather so we grabbed the camera and drone and started filming.

Congratulations to Mayor Byron and Commissioners Fitzsimons and Mikulski on a fantastic job!
