North Shore Bar & Kitchen Postpones Opening Date
In an unfortunate turn of events, the highly anticipated reopening of the North Shore for the summer 2023 season has been derailed by a series of unforeseen circumstances during the construction process.
The sad news came from North Shore owner, Ryan Fitzpatrick, who took to Facebook with a lengthy explanation.
The North Shore was one of the projects the Wildwood Video Archive had been covering in their monthly construction update videos.
From unexpected issues during demolition to delays in steel fabrication, the project has faced numerous challenges, resulting in significant setbacks and, ultimately, the termination of the contract with Plaza Construction.
Originally scheduled to open on Memorial Day weekend, the North Shore Construction Project encountered several hurdles that impeded progress.

Unforeseen complications emerged during the demolition phase, leading to necessary revisions of the plans. Furthermore, delays in steel fabrication further hampered the project’s timeline.
Despite these setbacks, the project team diligently addressed each challenge as it arose, demonstrating unwavering commitment to moving the project forward and fulfilling all obligations.
However, the project’s timeline underwent a series of revisions, culminating in a devastating blow to its completion.
In March, the contractor, Plaza Construction, revised the estimated completion date to June 12 – June 16.
As this deadline approached, Plaza Construction once again adjusted the timeline to June 26 – June 30. Just last week, to the dismay of the project owner, Plaza Construction extended the completion date to August 31—an additional eight-week delay—without providing any explanation for the protracted setback.
Compounding the situation, Plaza Construction also demanded a substantial payment that the project owner believed exceeded the value of the work completed.

Faced with mounting uncertainties and a loss of confidence, the project owner had no recourse but to terminate the contract with Plaza Construction and seek an alternative contractor to complete the project.
It is with deep regret that the project owner officially announces the cancellation of North Shore’s reopening for the summer 2023 season. However, the owner is keen to clarify any misconceptions and categorically states that North Shore is neither closing down, going out of business, nor up for sale.
In an effort to prevent rumors from circulating, the owner respectfully declines to address any speculative claims. Instead, the owner expresses unwavering confidence that the situation will be resolved favorably, paving the way for North Shore to reopen with a splendid new facility, outstanding entertainment, and an exceptional staff committed to delivering unparalleled customer service.
Fitzpatrick wishes to convey gratitude to the patrons of North Shore, whose overwhelming daily support has been a source of inspiration. Although they will be missed this summer, the owner looks forward to welcoming them back to the North Shore in the near future.
Amid the setbacks, North Shore’s vision of a rejuvenated facility, exceptional entertainment, and unparalleled customer service remains resolute, promising a bright future for this cherished establishment.
We wish Ryan and his crews the best of luck in getting the North Shore open later this year.
