North Wildwood Beach Replenishment – Halfway There

The North Wildwood Beach nourishment project has reached a significant milestone, with Phase 1 now completed

This past weekend, we visited the job site to capture some stunning seagull footage and witness the progress firsthand. You can watch that video at the bottom of this article.

Crews have successfully wrapped up Phase 1, which involved placing sand from 8th Avenue northwards and wrapping around the jetty on 2nd Avenue.

This essential phase sets a solid foundation for the remaining work and ensures that the most critical areas are protected and stabilized before they move South.

Now, the project has moved into Phase 2, which focuses on adding sand to the streets south of 8th Avenue.

At the current pace, crews are managing to push out about 100 by 200 feet of sand each day, and sometimes even more.

This impressive progress keeps the project on track for its projected completion date of early July, though we have heard some rumors that it could be done even faster.

The city of North Wildwood did update the public today to let visitors know that the beaches from 10th Ave to 16th Avenue will be closed for the time being.

As crews move to more south, these closed sections will begin to open up.

As a reminder, there is no defined finish location of this project. Crews will work until they run out of the allocated budget. This budget consists of $10 million from the State of New Jersey and up to $7 million from the city of North Wildwood.

During our filming day, we were able to watch as crews started adding sand to 12th Street. It also happened to be a day where the ocean was extremely blue and clear.

In some shots, you can even see down to the ocean floor (in about 7 feet of water).
