Over the past few weeks, there has been speculation if a particular coffee chain would be coming to the island.
The well-known brand we are referring to is Starbucks.
According to public records, Starbucks is interested in making 4800 Park Boulevard their new home on the island.
Starbucks Is Coming To Wildwood
Back in December 2021, Wildwood Park Developers LLC purchased the lot on the corner of Park and Rio Grande (across from the McDonalds) for $650,000.
This lot was originally going to be a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen fast food location. Those plans had fallen through but their proposed variances were approved.
Since Wildwood Park Developers LLC didn’t trace back to any known business folks started guessing what would be happening to the property.
A few months back the fences around the property went down and surveyors were seen walking and taking measurements.
We finally got our answer in a public notice posted online on May 26th.
The notice went on to say that at 4800 Park Boulevard, the “applicant intends to construct on the vacant lot, a new Starbucks store with parking and drive-thru.”
It continued by saying “A Popeye’s store with variances was previously approved on the site, so this application is for an amended site plan approval with one variance for not providing a designated loading zone per Section 17-608 and one waiver for a maximum number of freestanding and wall-mounted signs per Section 17-609 of the Ordinance.”
Since Monday is the first Monday of the month, this means that this application will be spoken about.
If you want to attend the meeting stop by city hall (4400 New Jersey Ave) at 6 pm
If approved this would be the third Starbucks in our area (Rio Grande + Cape May Court House).
Since this project will be on Rio Grande, is it possible we could see a Doo-Wop style Starbucks sign?
