As we start making our way closer to the warmer months, one of the biggest signs that summer is right around the corner is the reopening of Morey’s Piers and, of course, Mainers’ Arcade.

Located just to the left of the giant Morey’s Piers sign, Mainers’ Arcade has been a staple of the boardwalk for decades. It is one of those spots that feels the same every year in the best way possible. But at the same time, there is always something new waiting inside.

That is because every year, the team at Morey’s Piers heads down to Orlando for the IAAPA Expo, which is the largest amusement park and attractions industry trade show in the world. This is where they scout out the latest games and decide what is worth bringing back to Wildwood.

And this year, they might have outdone themselves.

Last summer, they introduced one of the most unique games on the boardwalk with ICEE Slush Rush. That game had you pulling down multiple levers to fill 50 cups of different sizes and flavors without overfilling them. It sounds simple, but it was incredibly addicting and quickly became a fan favorite.

Now heading into this season, they are bringing in two new games that could easily steal the spotlight.

The first one, and probably the one that is going to draw the biggest crowd, is called Perfect Pump.

This game is built to look exactly like a gas pump, which already makes it stand out. And in a place like New Jersey, where you are not even allowed to pump your own gas, that alone makes it feel different.

Here is how it works. You swipe your card, select your gas type, and then a random dollar amount appears. It could be $9, $15, $23, or anything in between. Your job is to hold down the pump and release it as close to that target number as possible.

Sounds easy. It is not.

If you land within 25 cents, you get 50 tickets. Within 10 cents gets you 100 tickets. Within 5 cents earns you 150 tickets. And if you hit it exactly, you trigger the bonus.

What makes the game so addictive is that nothing stays consistent. The speed of the pump changes, the dollar amounts constantly shift, and every attempt feels just a little bit different. It becomes less about luck and more about timing, and once you get close, you are going to want to keep trying to perfect it.

Out-of-state visitors might have a slight advantage at first, but give it a few weeks. By the middle of summer, this is going to be one of those games everyone thinks they have figured out.

The second new addition might be even more interesting from a gameplay standpoint.

It is called Hot Wheels Ultimate Speedway, and the best way to describe it is a mix between air hockey, skee-ball, and one of those old bar-style bowling games where you slide a puck down a lane to knock over pins.

In this case, the machine sends pucks toward you, and you slide them down a speedway that is powered by air jets, similar to an air hockey table. At the end of the track are moving targets with different point values, and your goal is to land your puck in those targets.

Each successful shot adds to your total and moves your car, displayed on the screen in front of you, closer to the finish line.

It is simple in concept, but once you start playing, you realize how much timing and control it actually takes. The moving targets, the airflow, and the pacing of the game all combine to make it a lot more challenging than it looks.

And honestly, that is what makes it fun.

Between Perfect Pump and Hot Wheels Ultimate Speedway, Mainers’ Arcade is once again doing what it always does best. Keeping the classics while finding ways to bring in something new that gets people hooked.

If this is any sign of what the 2026 season is going to look like, it is shaping up to be another strong summer on the boardwalk.
