It’s been 12 hours since our last update for Tropical Storm Elsa which will come to our area starting late tonight.

Here’s the latest from The Weather Service in Mount Holly.

UPDATE 6PM – Tropical Storm Warning For Cape May County

Elsa will bring 2-4 inches of rainfall with the highest threat being over the I-95 corridor along with areas south and east. Some areas could see up to 6 inches of rainfall which will cause flash flooding.

Southern portions of the eastern shore of southern/coastal New Jersey will Tropical-storm-force winds. The winds gusts could reach speeds up to 57 mph. However, there is a chance these strong winds could reach farther inland which could see up to 40 mph gusts.

There is the potential for dangerous conditions due to tropical-storm-force winds and seas 6-9 feet in all coastal and nearshore waters, including the Delaware Bay.

The timing of the rain is after high tide so don’t expect to see a storm surge.

The threat of tornados is mostly in North Cape May County and Atlantic County.

Elsa is moving at fast speeds so while a typical storm would hang around this one will be out before you wake up tomorrow.
