This weekend we will be just sliding by a storm that will be passing us just off the coast. Even though it is missing the mainland our shore towns will still get hit with some coastal flooding, heavy surf and winds.
We will start to feel the storm Friday night with the heaviest of wind and flooding to occur on Saturday into Sunday. Sunday’s high tide at 1pm is the one that could be the highest
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly,
While some minor coastal flooding is possible during the time of Saturday`s high tide, a more widespread coastal flooding is possible around the time of Sunday`s high tide. With passing of the Full moon a few days ago, our tides are already higher than normal.
Northeast wind gusts should reach 40 to perhaps 50 mph Saturday and Sunday especially along the Atlantic coast, with areas from the Atlantic City region southward to the Delaware Beaches potentially receiving the strongest winds.
Gale watches are in effect along the coastline from South Carolina to New Jersey.
