The Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol is currently on a hot streak as they won the Cape May County Lifeguard Championships for a second year straight.
This was Year 37 for the Cape May County Lifeguard Championships, which was canceled last year due to the pandemic.
Taking place on Friday night on Rambler Road in Wildwood Crest, The Crest won two events.
These competitions take place over the course of many different events.Each beach patrol has a team that participates in these different events.Winning first second and third place gives you x amount of points.Beach Patrol with the most points wins first, second, and third place.
Breaking down the totals;
First Place – Wildwood Crest – 25 points
Second Place – Avalon – 19 points
Third Place – Sea Isle City –16 points
The competition at the Cape May County Lifeguard Championships are always fierce because we have some of the best lifeguards in the world.
What made this competition extra tough was the remnants of tropical storm Elsa which created intense currents.
