As teased over the weekend, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said that Monday, today, he would give an announcement when it comes to the reopening of pools in the state.
The government updated their website in regards to pools by saying,
“Municipal and private-club swimming pools will be able to reopen on June 22. Summer camps will be able to use their pools when they reopen on July 6.”
To clarify, motels and hotels run private swimming pools. These pools are not open to the public and you can only gain access to them via a hotel reservation. Pools such as Seaport Pier can also open as they are private-club swimming pools.
This week The Department of Health will release full guidance on the health and safety standards that must be followed.
We have received many questions on if pools can open safely. According to state website, covid19.nj.gov, they go on to say;
“There is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID\-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, or water playgrounds. Additionally, proper operation of these aquatic venues and disinfection of the water (with chlorine or bromine) should inactivate the virus.”
In simple words, yes it is very safe if maintained properly. The motels and hotels down here will be ready to welcome you on June 22nd!
Tune back later this week with the updated guidelines on pools.
