Wildwoods Construction Update – Oct 2023

Wildwoods Construction Update – Oct 2023

Fall is in full swing and the Wildwoods are starting to settle into its off-season. Some look at this as the town shutting down after a busy summer, but they would be mistaken.

It’s the off-season where many motels, restaurants, and amusements upgrade or start on long construction projects that will be finished just in time to welcome visitors back.

Wildwoods Construction Update – Oct 2023

In the off-season, the Wildwood Video Archive documents these projects so that you are home and can see all the awesome things business owners are cooking up for you for next year.

While we saw some amazing projects last year, this year their new projects are equally great.

This video is the first ‘big’ Wildwoods Construction Update of the fall. With roughly one every month, these videos usually become forty minutes of visiting construction sites.

Since it’s the beginning of it all this video is limited to just four projects; Madison Resorts, Upgrading the Wildwood Crest Lifeguard Station, The Residences on the Oaks, and the Wildwood Boardwalk Reconstruction Project.

There are others going on as we speak such as the North Shore construction, the Giant Wheel refurbishment, Kay’s Oasis, and a few others that we will visit later on in December. If there is another project you want featured let us know in the comment section of the YouTube video.

Here are brief descriptions of each project featured this month.

Madison Resorts

Madison Resorts is set to invest $12 million into the old Oceanview motel located on Rambler Road in Wildwood Crest.

They are planning to offer 108 rooms, including 90 spacious suites, across four floors and 90,000 square feet. The renovated property will feature a modern lobby, a new restaurant, and a comfortable lounge area with firepits. Crews are moving along with a late Spring targeted opening date.

Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol Building

The last time the Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol Building had a renovation it was in the 1980s. Crews are working on bringing the building into the 2020s. This renovation keeps the existing walls but will renovate the entire inside and add a new slanted roof. It was the flat roof which caused much trouble for the past few years. This building is expected to be done in time for summer.

The Residences on the Oaks

This is a nine-unit condo complex being built on Oak Avenue next to the Boardwalk. These units will have their own parking lot under the building which will remove some cars from the street. Prior to this being built the lot sat empty for a few years.

The Wildwoods Boardwalk Reconstruction

The Wildwoods Boardwalk Reconstruction project officially began its phases III, IV, and V, covering the boardwalk stretch between Oak Avenue and Spicer Avenue. These phases continue the project that commenced over the past two years, with Phase 1 covering Oak to Maple Avenues in 2021, and Phase 2 extending from Maple to 26th Street in the current year.

The upcoming phases involve rehabilitating various sections, including structural repairs, demolitions, and the addition of new amenities, ultimately closing off access to these areas for construction, with businesses and beach access affected.
