Shrivers Salt Water Taffy Comes To Wildwood

Shrivers Salt Water Taffy Comes To Wildwood

The Ocean City known Salt Water Taffy company, Shrivers, is making the move from the OC Boardwalk to the Wildwood Boardwalk. They will be taking the place of the recently bankrupt James Salt Water Taffy.

We reported back in November that James Salt Water Taffy, founded in 1885, had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as they looked to reorganization the company.

One of those reorganization decisions was for them to close their Wildwood Boardwalk location. With the spot open Shrivers Salt Water Taffy decided to move in.

We decided to show you what the building looks like so far! [Video at the bottom of the page]

Here’s a brief history on Shrivers Salt Water Taffy.

Founded in 1898 by William Shriver, it was created as a restaurant, ice cream, and candy store right on the Ocean City, New Jersey boardwalk. As it stands, it is currently the oldest establishment on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

Now located on our boardwalk it sits as the oldest brand on the boardwalk. The oldest continuous establishment on the Wildwood Boardwalk is Douglass Fudge. Douglass had just hit 100 years this past weekend! You can read about that by clicking the link below.
