SOLVED – Tremors Felt In South Jersey

Yesterday we brought you the story of two different tremors reported by Cape May County and Atlantic County.  We can finally lay to rest what happened. Even though yesterday, the 177th Air National Guard said that there were no planes in the sky it turns out that was false.

It now reported that a Naval Air Plane from Maryland was flying off the coast of New Jersey from 2p.m. to 4 p.m. It created a massive sonic boom that was heard from Atlantic City to Cape May.

If you don’t know what a sonic boom is, according to Woneropolis, “A sonic boom is a loud sound kind of like an explosion. It’s caused by shock waves created by any object that travels through the air faster than the speed of sound. Sonic booms create huge amounts of sound energy. When an object moves through the air, it makes pressure waves in front of and behind it.”
