Wildwood Tramcar Safety Provisions

After we had announced that the Wildwood Boardwalk tramcar would be opening for the season on Tuesday May 26th, yes the day after Memorial Day, we were flooded with questions.

Your biggest concern was on how the city plans on keeping the tramcar safe and clean for its guests.

While an official announcement will be coming later this week via the Mayor of North Wildwood, who also happens to be the President of the Boardwalk’s SID, we got confirmation on the safety provisions via the legend himself, Gig!

Gig was down in Wildwood this weekend to train the new tramcar drivers and cashiers for the 2020 summer season.

He told us that the Tramcar family is growing this year to accommodate the new Covid-19 measures. They are hiring more employees to help clean the tramcars. Through-out the boardwalk they will be stopping at certain sections on the boardwalk where they will clean and sanitize the tramcar.

An example of this would be on 16th street and Cresse Ave. They will have 2 employees on the boardwalk who will come up to the tram and wipe down the seats with disinfectant.

As an extra safety measure they will be adding plexiglass to help divide visitors.
