Wildwood Is On Broadway!!!
I was walking down 54th Street in Manhattan the other day and something JUMPED out at me. It a very well lit sign I saw “Wildwood.” Being who I am and my love for anything Wildwood, I decided to run over and see what the show, “Wildwood” was about. Could it be that it’s about our little shore town… turns out it was.
For a one night show, “Wildwood” was be performed at Feinstein’s/54 Below and star some amazing singers. In a Description of the show posted no Feinstein’s page it describes “Wildwood” as;
In the 1950’s, Wildwood NJ was known as “The Las Vegas of the East.” For three months a year, this small south Jersey town turned into the biggest party of the summer. Everything converged in Wildwood- The Rat Pack, doo wop, soul, and the beginnings of rock and roll. Inspired by Tennessee Williams‘ Sweet Bird of Youth, Beach Party movies, and Amy Winehouse, Wildwood is about the excitement and corruption of hope and promise in the 1950’s, and how we try to move forward after the neon goes out.
