Boat Accident Removed Safely From Garden State Parkway
Boat Accident Removed Safely From Garden State Parkway
It’s not everyday that you hear that there was a boat accident on the highway.
Yesterday afternoon the Cape May County police blotter had an interesting report come about. Someone called 911 after witnessing a boat come lose from it’s trailer and slamming into the woods.
The accident took place just off the North bound of the Garden State Parkway, past Exit 0 around 2:30pm.
The boat, which was roughly about 25 feet long, had came loose from the trailer. According to eyewitnesses, the boat was loaded too far back which caused an unbalance on the trailer. Once the truck and trailer got up to 40 miles-per-hour, the trailer became unstable and jack knifed.
The truck, attempting to gain control of the load, was pushed off the road and into the woods. The boat fully ejected from the trailer and landed on some bushes.
Cape May Sea Tow doesn’t do land retrievals so a heavy tow truck was called to the scene, which caused one lane to be closed off.
The boat was put on a trailer and moved to a storage yard.
John Cooke and CT Reset shared these photos below of the boat off the trailer in the woods.
