It has been a tough two weeks for some long-standing establishments in Ocean City New Jersey.
It’s no secret that after Labor Day weekend many businesses close for the off-season. Usually, this closure lasts from the end of September until late Spring.
Three Long Time Businesses Close In Ocean City
In Ocean City, three different businesses that have been in the community for quite some time announced over Labor Day Weekend that they would be closing their doors for good.
The first one to make an announcement was Voltaco’s Italian Foods located at 957 West Avenue.
On September 2nd the Taccarino Family took to Facebook to let fans know that “After much deliberation, we have come to the not-so-easy decision to make 2022 our last year in business.”
Voltaco’s Italian Foods had been a staple on the island for 68 years. Their last dat will be October 9th.
The next business to announce its closure was Wards Pastry. They have been making sweets on the island for 98 years.
Their announcement came on Facebook on September 10th and said “After being an Ocean City tradition for over 98 years, Wards Pastry will be turning off its ovens on September 18 for the last time.”
The Hohman family thanked their fans for allowing them to be part of their celebrations through the years.
The last one on our list is OC Surf Cafe. While they have only been on the island for 10 years, they had made a big impact on locals and visitors alike.
On September 11th they too took to Facebook to announce they would be closing their doors. Their message read, “We have had a great run, had the best staff and most wonderful customers anyone could ask for. We want to thank everyone who has supported us, we have enjoyed getting to know you and your families. Thank you for a GREAT 10 years!”
It’s sad to see these businesses go but we wish all the families a happy retirement!
