Wildwoods Mini Construction Update – Aug 2023
As we find ourselves midway through summer, the season’s warmth and vibrant energy surround us. The days have stretched longer, allowing more time for outdoor adventures, lazy afternoons by the beach, and fun-filled gatherings with loved ones.
Wildwoods Mini Construction Update – Aug 2023
Families look forward to their summer vacations that they planned back when snow was hitting the ground. During the winters months, the Wildwood Video Archive was bought you monthly updates on the many different contraction projects taking place all over the Wildwoods.
Since the last Wildwoods Construction Update right before Memorial Day Weekend, numerous projects have reached completion, delighting locals and visitors alike.
However, three significant ventures remain works in progress, building up excitement throughout the community. These include the eagerly anticipated North Shore Kitchen and Bar, the upcoming Wildwood’s Starbucks, and the highly-awaited Madison Resorts.

The North Shore Kitchen and Bar
Back in June, The North Shore Kitchen and Bar announced on Facebook that they would not be able to complete their reconstruction project until August 31st.
Unexpected challenges arose during the demolition phase, prompting essential revisions to the project plans. Moreover, delays in steel fabrication further hindered the project’s progress. Initially, Plaza Construction projected a completion date of June 12 – June 16.

However, as the deadline approached, they adjusted it to June 26 – June 30. To the dismay of the project owner, Plaza Construction recently extended the completion date to August 31, an additional eight-week delay, without offering any justification.
Adding to the predicament, the construction company demanded a considerable payment that exceeded the project owner’s perceived value of the completed work. Consequently, the owner decided to terminate the contract with Plaza Construction, leading to the search for a new contractor.
Since then the building has been sitting with no work going on.
Wildwood Starbucks
Located at 4800 Park Boulevard, right on Rio Grande Boulevard and across the street from McDonald’s, Wildwood’s very own Starbucks’ is getting closer and closer to pouring their first cup of coffee.
Since the last update, the building has been mostly completed on the outside and railings have been installed.
This Starbucks is very different than any other Starbucks you may have seen before. This stand-alone building will not have an indoor seating section for patrons. Visitors will have three options: order on the app and pick it up, order your drink in the drive-through or order at the window and sit on the benches at their patio area.
On top of this, there will be no public bathrooms.
Those wondering when Wildwood’s Starbucks will be open will be happy to hear that Fall 2023 is the target date.
OceanView Motel/Madison Resorts
Last September the Oceanview Motel was sold and a major undertaking started to persevere the building and prepare it to be renovated and expanded to become Madison Resorts.
Madison Resorts had planned to invest $12M into to property. The resort promises an array of enhancements, boasting 108 rooms, of which 90 will be spacious suites. Stretching across four floors and encompassing 90,000 square feet, the upgraded property will showcase a modern lobby and reception area, a new restaurant, and a cozy lounge section complete with inviting firepits.

Additionally, guests will enjoy direct beach access and an awe-inspiring ocean-view patio lounge, with further upgrades to be unveiled in due course.
The original date of completion was Memorial Day Weekend but structural issues within the main lobby building caused them to demolish it. A new lobby in a similar shape is currently being erected in its place.
Crews have been working almost daily to get this project done. When the Wildwood Video Archive crew was there, teams were laying the roof on the lobby down. They are also working on renovating the inside of each and every single room in the building.
Once they are done with this project they will continue with other phases in the coming years.
Their current opening date for phase one is penciled in for September 2023, though at this time it looks like they won’t be completed by then.
