When Does The Wildwood Boardwalk Close For The 2025 Season?

When Does The Wildwood Boardwalk Close For The 2025 Season?

One of the most common questions we hear this time of year is, “When does the Wildwood Boardwalk close?” The answer may surprise you: the boardwalk itself never actually closes.

That’s right, America’s Boardwalk stretching nearly two miles along the ocean is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. (which makes it a great place to work out year-round).

Whether it’s the height of summer or the middle of January, you can always stroll the boards, breathe in the salty air, and take in those one-of-a-kind ocean views.

What does change, however, are the businesses that make the boardwalk come alive.

Shops, arcades, rides, restaurants, and attractions all operate on seasonal schedules.

For most of them, Labor Day weekend marks the beginning of the wind-down period. Once September rolls around, you’ll notice more and more storefronts shuttering for the season.

Morey’s Piers and Water Parks

The biggest attraction along the boardwalk, Morey’s Piers, runs its amusement rides from late-spring through mid-fall.

Typically, the piers open on weekends in mid-May and expand to daily operations by late June.

Come September, hours scale back to weekends only, with closing weekends stretching into October, often tied to big fall events like the Irish Festival and Morey’s Oktoberfest celebrations.

Their Piers all have different times they close, which, if you are reading this post Labor day (Monday, September 1, 2025), the only pier that will be open is Mariner’s Pier (the middle Pier)

The two water parks follow a shorter calendar. Ocean Oasis, located on Surfside Pier, traditionally wraps up right after Labor Day. Raging Waters, over at Mariner’s Pier, usually squeezes in one more weekend, staying open until at least Saturday, September 6, 2025.

After that, both parks will be closed until next summer.

The official last date of Morey’s Piers is Sunday, October 12th

Shops, Games, and Restaurants

Outside of Morey’s, many boardwalk businesses choose their own closing dates. And just a heads up, they do not typically post their hours online.

Some call it a season right after Labor Day, while others keep weekend hours through late September.

A handful of arcades, pizzerias, and souvenir shops remain open even longer, hoping to catch visitors attending off-season events and fall festivals through the end of October.

If you’re visiting after mid-September, expect a quieter, slower-paced boardwalk.

You’ll still find a few pizza shops, arcades, and candy stores open, but the energy is very different than those peak July nights.

This year also brought noticeable upgrades. Phase 6 of the Wildwood Boardwalk Reconstruction Project was completed in the spring, rebuilding the stretch between Spicer and Montgomery Avenues.

The improvements included new decking, enhanced railings, widened walking paths, upgraded lighting, and fresh pavilions.

For the fall into the first week of May, we will see certain sections of the boardwalk completely closed for Phase 7 of the Wildwood Boardwalk Reconstruction Project.

While we don’t know the exact sections, it will be some of the streets from Burk Ave to Cresse Ave or all of them, depending on funding.

We could also see sections of the boardwalk get wider as well, just like we saw between Morey’s Adventure Pier and the Wildwoods Convention Center.

So, when does the Wildwood Boardwalk close for the 2025 season? It never does. The boards remain open year-round, but the fun of rides, water parks, and shops begins to fade after Labor Day.

If you want the full Wildwoods boardwalk experience, plan your trip before September ends.
