The Wildwood Video Archive was created to help promote the amazing things we have here all around the Wildwoods and our sister shore towns (Cape May, Stone Harbor, Avalon, Sea Isle City…etc). This page was never created to be political or try to start a fight in it’s comment section (unless it’s about who has the better pizza, Sam’s or Macks)
Today I wanted to use my platform to help illustrate the desperate need of a timeline for certain businesses at the Jersey shore.
Governor Murphy, unlike the rest of the state most shore towns operate on a very short 13 week season. It is only between this time that small businesses can make their revenue that will have to last the entire year.
While you have been good on getting an opening date on motels, pools, and games, you have yet to give a timeline for businesses such as amusement parks and arcades.
We aren’t asking for you to willy-nilly ‘open today’ kind of thing, but rather a date on WHEN these things can open.
Understandably you have some concerns on how parks can open safely but back in early May the amusements of New Jersey came together to create a plan
The plan titled “New Jersey’s Safe Play,” The plan titled “New Jersey’s Safe Play,” is a 14 page PDF that breakdown every part of an amusement park operation and what they can do to make it safe for the public. The information in the PDF was gathered by IAAPA, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, from attractions operators around the world and in consultation with an epidemiologist.
This plan was submitted to your office. For those reading this you can read about it below.
Some arcades in the Wildwoods have even gone further than the plan as such with Ed’s Funcade. They added touch-less sinks, plexiglass on every machine and a rigorous cleaning schedule.
You can see a tour of Ed’s Funcade via BC news by clicking HERE.
Gov Murphy, as you can see amusements in New Jersey are prepared and are ready to open. Please just give them a date so that they can get their doors open and so visitors can come down and make beautiful memories at our shores!
If your reading this and your not Gov Murphy then you should share this on Twitter or Facebook and tag him. The idea is to show support to our amusements and explain to him that we need them open. Please share!
