Atlantic City Island Indoor Waterpark Update
This past 365 days, Atlantic City has seen a massive shift with some major projects in their future.
For those who have been paying attention, in the past seven days alone two major projects have been announced.
The first big announcement was that Steel Pier, located at 1000 Boardwalk in Atlantic City, announced during their visit to the amusement convention, IAPPA, that they are adding two new coasters.
The first coaster is a spinning coaster, which is a remake of the original one they introduced back in 1996 and their second is a Skyrocket II.

Atlantic City’s Steel Pier To Get Two New Coasters
While these two coasters won’t be built for another two years, another project just announced won’t be completed for 12 years.
This project is called “CASA MAR” and it’s a $3 Billion project which will see the abandoned Atlantic City Airport, Bader Field, transformed into a small city.
Bart Blatstein, the owner of the Showboat teamed up with Post Brothers for the project.
“CASA MAR” will be a project unseen before in South Jersey. Blatstein and Post will transform the land into 10,000 residential units, 400,000 square feet of office and retail space, and 20 acres of public trails and parks.

$3 Billion Atlantic City Project Proposed
Blatstein is working on another project which will be completed by next year, Island Indoor Waterpark
Back in January 2022, Blatstein made the announcement that he wanted to bring more family-friendly attractions to his resort.
Blatstein knew that Atlantic City was missing the family entertainment aspect as it mostly catered to gamblers. He wanted to corner the family market so he held a press conference to announce the Island Waterpark.
This waterpark was billed as the largest indoor waterpark in the world. Costing over $100 million dollars, this year-round indoor waterpark will sit in a retractable glass-pane roof and will consist of 103,000 square feet of space.
Inside you can find a boardwalk of games, restaurants, bars, a Lazy river, party rooms, and over 10 massive slides.
Since the announcement crews broke ground and have been working around the clock to get the property built in time for their May 2023 opening date.
Some thought that due to the covid-19 pandemic the project would be shelved but it is moving forward fast.
At this time, most of the roof skeleton is complete and glass is being installed. Looking into the building concrete foundations are being poured for the slide’s metal structure. Just outside the rear of the pump house, green slide supports are being laid out before they are installed inside.
Just over one block to the West, crews are taking the slide pieces out of their crates and putting them together.
As supports and structures are raised into place, the slide pieces will be driven over to the construction site.
We visited the site to bring you some updates on the construction of the waterpark.
