Banner Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Ocean City
Whenever come to the beach, your day isn’t complete without viewing a few banners advertising local attractions.
Folks driving into Ocean City New Jersey today were surprised to see one of these banner planes land right on the 9th Street Bridge.
18-year-old pilot, Landon Lucas, was flying his single-engine plane for Paramount Air Service, over Atlantic City when he started experiencing engine trouble.
After radioing into work he dropped the banner into the ocean, away from visitors, and search for a place to land.
Lucas was going to attempt a landing at the Ocean City Municipal Airport but founded a better solution, the 9th Street Bridge.
For those who haven’t been to Ocean City, the 9th Street Bridge is the connector between Ocean City and Somers Point. He landed the plane in the middle of the westbound lanes.
He landed the plane with no damage to the plane and with no injuries.
The plane was towed off the bridge around 4 PM after investigators gave them the all-clear.
[A BIG thank you to Paramount Air Service and Lucas. Their training helped to secure that no one was injured]
