Bobby Rydell Statue Planned For Wildwood
The estate and family of the late singer and teen idol Bobby Rydell have announced the creation of the Bobby Rydell Foundation. The Foundation aims to keep the music of the past alive and continue the work that Bobby Rydell started during his lifetime.
Rydell was a popular musician in the 60s, known for his hits “Wild One”, “Forget Him”, and “Sway.” He continued to perform until his death in 2022.
Linda Hoffman, Rydell’s wife, has appointed New Jersey singer Tommy Coniglio as the official spokesperson for the foundation. Coniglio, who recorded two songs with Rydell in 2022, is known as “The Voice of Tribute.”
The first of these songs, a new arrangement of “Sway”, was released in July 2022. The second song will be announced next month, with a release date in April.
The Foundation has chosen Wildwood, NJ, as the location for a permanent memorial to Bobby Rydell. The statue will be approximately six feet tall and made of bronze.

Wildwood was one of Rydell’s favorite places, and “Wildwood Days” can still be heard playing over the boardwalk speakers for five months of the year. Coniglio believes that Wildwood is the perfect place for the statue, given Rydell’s ties to the town and his iconic status in the area.
The location of the statue will be announced in the coming months.
Fundraising for the statue is already underway, and fans can follow Rydell and Coniglio’s social media accounts for more information.
Limited edition merchandise is also available for purchase on Coniglio’s website, thevoiceoftribute.com. A t-shirt and whiskey rocks glass for “Sway” are currently available for pre-order, both featuring Bobby Rydell’s official autograph. $2 from the purchase of each item will be donated towards the statue.
Two fundraising events have been planned, with the first already sold out. The second event will be held at the Bolero Resort on April 30th and will include an auction of Rydell’s autographed items. Fans of Bobby Rydell are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates on the Foundation’s progress, as well as opportunities to support the project.
Coniglio expressed his excitement about the project and his gratitude for the opportunity to honor Bobby Rydell in this way. “We have a lot more to come,” he said, “and we are all very excited to memorialize the great Bobby Rydell.”
