Cape Square Entertainment Center Gets an Opening Date
While many dates have been pushed as an opening date for the Cape Square Entertainment Center, we finally have one that won’t be changing.
Opening the Cape Square Entertainment Center has been a long journey that has taken several years with many setbacks.
Located at 3801 Route 9 in Rio Grande, New Jersey, in the former Kmart shopping center, the story of this transformation started back in 2018. This is when the county purchased the center for over $5.60 million.

At that time Frank’s Rio Theater was operating in the West side of the building but closed after its parent company went bankrupt in 2019.
Town Square Entertainment, who owns Tilton Square Theatre, Ventnor Square Theatre and Harbor Square, signed an agreement with the county to open up an Entertainment Center under the name, Cape Square.
The Cape Square Entertainment Center was announced as a combination of many things from bowling, movies, restaurants, golf simulators, an arcade, and more.
Unfortunately, as soon as construction got moving the pandemic happened which then lead to a massive increase in the price of all building materials.
Construction didn’t get back underway until last Fall when teams went full steam ahead.

At that time there was no official opening date.
According to a Press of Atlantic City article, their official opening date will take place over Memorial Day weekend.
In our December conversations, the bowling and restaurants were to open before the theaters in the Spring with the theaters opening later on. No word on if everything in the complex will be opened by Memorial Day Weekend.
