There was an interesting public notice in the paper today.
The notice was for an application to the Local Alcoholic Beverage Control Issuing Authority of the City of Wildwood for a place-to-place transfer of a Plenary Retail Consumption License.
This is a normal liquor license that authorizes the sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the licensed premises by the glass or other open receptacle AND allows the sale of alcoholic beverages in original containers for consumption off the licensed premises.
What made the notice interesting was who it was for.License No. 0514-33-013-009 belongs to Mudhen Brewing Company located at 127 West Rio Grande Avenue.
Could Wildwood See Another Bar or Liquor Store?
The application goes on to say that they want to take the license sited at 127 W. Rio Grande Avenue and add the addresses 102 and 114 West Taylor Avenue to it.
Those addresses are for the Dominos Pizza building and the lot behind them.
Last year we talked about Mudhen Brewing Company’s parent company, BMS Restaurant Holdings, LLC, purchasing this building but not having an idea on what they would be doing with the property.
From the outside, they pained the building and gave it a bit of a facelift. It looks like they plan on adding something to do with liquor in this area.
Looking at a map you can see that the backend of Mudhen Brewing Company’s ‘yard’ matches up to the parking lot cited in the application.
One thing that does stand out is the LLC attached to it. Instead of it being BMS Restaurant Holdings, it is listed as BS Liquors, LLC.
It could be possible that we see a liquor store that would be selling Mudhen Brewing Company brew.
At this time anything could be speculation since this is only an application.
Those would object to this application should write to Christopher Wood, Municipal Clerk, City of Wildwood, 4400 New Jersey Avenue, Wildwood, New Jersey 08260.
