For the past few years, you may have noticed we have been talking about the old Wildwood Crest Library.
Located at 6301 Ocean Avenue, this building has been vacant since the new Wildwood Crest Library was built down the street at 6300 Atlantic Ave.
Since 2018 the city has been trying to come up with a use for this building.
On Oct 23rd, 2019 we broke the story that Wildwood Crest put forward a plan to rehab the old Crest library. This new building would be called the Living Room.
This new space would be a mixed-use building that would house an environmental outreach room, a common area, a senior center/historical room, a concession stand, and a gift shop.
The city was moving ahead with the plans and obtaining grants but then covid-19 hit. This pushed back the project leaving it sitting there.
Fast-forward to this past October when the city finally green-lit the 1.6 million dollar plan.
We started covering the construction progress on this property in our monthly “Wildwoods monthly Construction Update” (a new one coming this weekend).
In those videos, we talked about what will be inside the building and a rough layout of what the outside would be.
The city of Wildwood Crest just uploaded an updated video of what the ground of the building will look like.
Titled the Crest Arts Pavilion, we can see many changes to the design.
This includes more parking on the Southside of the building, part of the parking lot on the north side would get filled in to make more lawn space (plus seashore landscape), fire pits, tables, chairs a Crest sculpture, and in the center of it all a shaded stage.
One of the big draws of this space is that the city could rent out this area for weddings, concerts, and more.
Below is a mock-up of what it would look like.
