In the beginning of the week we announced that a new beach replenishment project is set to begin soon. If you want to read that article click the link below.
Our friend PJ Hondros who runs the North Wildwood Coastal Processes Facebook Group, knows everything about the N. Wildwood Beach Replenishment.
Yesterday he gave us an update which included plans and blueprints.
We already know that 300,000 cubic yards of sand will be excavated from Wildwood, and stockpiled in North Wildwood, where it will later be spread out in the Spring but what we just learned is that the current bulkhead will be a revamp.
The bulkhead from 5th-7th Avenues is set to be moved inland and attached to the new build head at 7th. This move will remove that box-out ramp at 7th ave.
On ocean side of the bulkhead rocks will be placed and a 16 foot tall dune will be built.
With the new dunes and bulk head we will receive three new beach accesses. These three will be between 5th-7th with a car ramp being rebuilt where the current one is at 7th.
Below PJ put together the blueprints with an explanation of what is moving.
– The Red shows the bulkhead that will stay
– The Orange show the bulkhead that’ll be removed
– The Blue shows the proposed new position of the bulkhead

The cost of the project is approximately $3,000,000. While you might be saying wow that is so much money, you have to understand what would happen if the city didn’t take these actions.
