Listed in the public notices that were filed today, was an application to turn an old historic Wildwood residence into a restaurant.

As the notice goes on to say;

“The property that they own located at 3008 Atlantic Avenue…is presently situated as a single-family dwelling and the Applicant proposes to convert a portion of the building into a 46-seat restaurant, while maintaining a portion of the premises as a single-family dwelling.”

There is some really cool history behind 3008 Atlantic Avenue.

This residence was built in 1904 by the first Mayor of Wildwood, J. Thompson Baker. At one point it used to be beachfront property but with the changing of time the beach moved to its current location.

In year’s after the mayor moved out it became the Wildwood Civic Center and it’s kitchen was expanded to include commercial grade equipment.

What the owners seem to be doing is the same thing that Sapore In Cape May did. Take a historical house and make it into a world class restaurant.

There is no word on what the restaurant will be, what they will serve or when they will open. This looks like early stages.

A Public Hearing will be held before the Planning/Zoning Board on this Application on May 3, 2021 at 6:00 PM in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room located on the second floor of City Hall, 4400 New Jersey Avenue, Wildwood.
