Things to Do In Cape May County In The Fall

As you can tell with the chilly 60 degree nights, fall is upon us. As Cape May county is cooling down from a hot summer, most of our shore towns are starting to move into their off-season hours.

Those who are looking to take some fun fall trips have been asking us what is there to do in Cape May County in the fall. Let’s break down some things to check out.

Morey’s Piers’s Oktoberfest

The festivities include classic Oktoberfest food and beverages at Wilhelm’s Bier Garten and Jumbo’s Grub & Pub, a kids “Rootbier Garten” activity area, and a full line-up of bands rocking the Coca-Cola branded stage at Mariner’s Pier near the Giant Wheel during the Oktoberfest weekends through October 10th.

Annual Pumpkin Festival – October 2nd

Sponsored by Lower Township Recreation Dept. Halloween parade 12 noon. Craft show, music, games, food vendors and pumpkin painting. Donations of canned goods gratefully accepted. Historic Cold Spring Village. Rain date Sunday, October 21st FREE admission, Buildings closed.

MudHen Harvest Fest – October 1st-3rd

Kicking the fall off with the release of our Nummy Pumpkin brew at 6pm followed by live music with Fat Mezz & pumpkin painting for the kids! MudHen Brewing Company

Olde Time Italian Festival – October 1st-2nd

Celebrate Italian culture and heritage at Fox Park on Ocean Avenue between Burk and Montgomery Avenues in Wildwood on Friday from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. and on Saturday from noon until 11 p.m. Come experience an ‘Olde World’ family festival including a Procession of the Saints, delicious Italian food favorites, merchandise vendors, games, and continuous FREE live entertainment. A spaghetti eating contest will take place as well. SPECIAL for the 15th Anniversary Celebration, the Skyliners will perform Friday night and Bobby Rydell will perform Saturday night! Admission to the festival is FREE!

The Race of Gentlemen – October 1st-3rd

Spectators and racers alike will experience a simpler time when guys were gentlemen and cars were king! Over 100 vintage auto (pre-1934) and motorcycles (pre-1947) including Indian, Harley Davidson, Excelsior, Ford, Dodge Brothers, and more will compete in an exhibition-style beach race at the water’s edge on the Wildwood beach between Spencer and Wildwood Avenues.

Crest Best Run Fest – October 2nd-3rd

The Crest Best Run Fest features a 10 Miler, 5 Miler, and 5K which allows runners to experience the BEST of what Wildwood Crest has to offer

Block Party and Fireworks Spectacular – Ocean City – October 2nd

Over 400 crafters, food vendors, music, and more from 9 am to 5 pm. In the evening, family night entertainment on the boardwalk with fireworks beginning at 9:30 pm. For more information call.

The Wildwoods Food & Music Festival – October 9th

(Formerly known as Wildwoods Seafood and Music Festival). The Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce presents a food and music street fair on Saturday, October 9 from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. featuring a full day of fantastic food options, music, shopping, and more. The festival will take place in Downtown Wildwood starting at Byrne Plaza along Pacific Avenue between Oak and Schellenger Avenues in Wildwood.

Lima Bean Festival – October 9th

West Cape May celebrates her farming heritage with the Annual Lima Bean Festival in the Borough’s Backyard Park (732 Broadway, behind the Fire House)!

Cape May Fall Festival – October 14th-17th

Registration will include a selection of field trips, trolley trips, boat trips, and indoor programs, as well as our Thursday evening Kick-off Party at the Rusty Nail, sponsored by Kowa! Cape May Convention Hall will be packed with all kinds of nature-related vendors, plus a live show animal shows every couple of hours by Nature Nick.

The Fall Festival t-shirt and artwork is being designed by Louise Zemaitis and we’re looking forward to some 75th Anniversary merch!

Fabulous ’50s & Beyond Weekend – October 15th-16th

Friday night features a ’50s Dance Party with the Cameos at the Wildwoods Convention Center from 6:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $16 plus tax per person. A FREE street fair will take place on Saturday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. featuring classic cars, food and craft vendors, a Doo Wop Bus Tour, and live entertainment. Saturday night’s concert in the Wildwoods Convention Center begins at 7 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) featuring music from the 1950s with Little Anthony & The Imperials, the 1960s with Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone, and the 1970’s with The Spinners and The Mahoney Brothers performing as Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Ghoul Spring Village (Family Friendly) – Oct 22nd-23rd

Historic Cold Spring Village is offering a family-friendly haunted walk-thru for young and old alike. $4 per person. 5:30-8 pm

Boo at the Zoo! – October 30th

The Cape May County Park and Zoo’s annual “Boo at the Zoo” event will take place on Sat., Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Cape May County Park. Visitors of all ages are invited to wear a costume to this fun family event, which includes activities for the kids, games, candy, entertainment, animals, an inflatable obstacle course, pirate ship, and more.
