Visitors Angry In North Wildwood Street Parking Price Hike
With the unofficial start of summer right around the corner, meters on the island are starting to turn on.
That parking in North Wildwood on certain streets this summer will be met with an increased fare which is having some visitors up in arms.
Starting May 15th, meters in North Wildwood will be turned on for the summer season, signaling the beginning of paid parking in the city. To streamline the parking process, North Wildwood exclusively uses the ParkMobile app for all paid parking transactions.
The ParkMobile app will be active from May 15th to September 30th between 9 a.m. and 12 midnight throughout the entire city.
This new app has slowly become the only way for visitors to park at a meter. The positive of having this app is that it gives you, in real time, the option to increase your parking time in just a few clicks. This way visitors don’t have to walk all the way back to their car just to add on additional quarters.
New for this year is the parking increases. As many visitors may know, parking on the island has gotten a bit out of control with the addition of many golf carts on the road. These golf carts have caused many folks to park as far back as Delaware Avenue, and walk to the beach.

Reading some Facebook comments on the subject, some visitors are questing whether to even put money in the meters since if you plan to be on the beach for longer than 7 hours, the $35 ticket would be cheaper than paying for $8 hours.
With all the negative comments about the price the number one question that comes up is, would you rather pay for the beach at the meter or have a beach tag?
Most of the revenue generated via the meters helps to keep the beaches clean, pay for the beach patrol, maintain the beach, and to take the trash off the beach. If the city can’t generate that from parking fees where else besides beach tags would this revenue come from?
