When Does The Wildwood Boardwalk Close For The Season

When Does The Wildwood Boardwalk Close For The Season

“When Does The Wildwood Boardwalk Close For The Season,” is the biggest question we always get asked once Labor Day Weekend rolls around. While you think it would be a simple answer, it’s not even close.

The Wildwood Boardwalk is the bloodline of the Wildwoods. It’s the main attraction that people plan their entire trip around. They decided months in advance what games they wanted to play, what rides they wanted to jump on, and which water park is on their to-do list.

When the unofficial end of summer hits, which is what people call Labor Day Weekend, many people assume that the boardwalk packs up and shuts down. That is very much wrong.

The main physical boardwalk never closes. From hot summer days to snowy winter ones, you can always visit the Wildwood Boardwalk. Walking the boardwalk during a snowstorm has become a family tradition as it’s amazing to see all the rides covered in snow.

Back in 2016, we even filmed a drone video of a snow-covered Wildwood Boardwalk which you can watch at the bottom of this article.

The only main establishment on the boardwalk that has its own official closed hours and dates is Morey’s Piers. All of the shops, restaurants, and games, tend to not to post when they close for the season.

These please tend to follow in the steps of Morey’s Piers or events going on on the island.

For 2023, Morey’s Piers just posted the end of their season schedule. (which is also a bit complicated).

Morey’s Piers operates three piers of rides in the Wildwoods, Surfside Pier, Adventure Pier, and Mariner’s Pier. All three of them, including their two water parks, have different closing dates.

Those closing dates are;

  • Surfside Pier: Sunday, Sept 3rd (yes before Labor Day)
  • Ocean Oasis: Monday, Sept 4th (Labor Day)
  • Adventure Pier: Monday, Sept 4th (Labor Day)
  • Raging Waters: Tuesday, Sept 5th (Tuesday)
  • Mariners Pier: Sunday, Oct 8th

Mariner’s Piers starting September 15th until their closing date of October 8th, will be celebrating their Oktoberfest. For more information on Morey’s Piers Oktoberfest click HERE.

For the rest of the shops, well this year is a bit different than in years past. This year Morey’s are closing Surfside Pier and Adventure Pier on Labor Day Weekend.

This could mean that those boardwalk businesses could also be closing sooner due to foot traffic being down. Historically a decent amount of things have been open until North Wildwood’s Irish Festival, which is on the weekend of September 23rd.

Another important date that we also see things open is Columbus Day Weekend (Weekend of October 7th).

Normally after that, we see a massive drop in businesses being open and we are considered to be in our off-season.

There are some places that will stay open year-round such as Gateway26, the Retro Arcade, and the Fudge Kitchen.

Hopefully, this helped with your plans to come to the Wildwoods this year. Keep in mind there are so many amazing events post the boardwalk’s “closing” such as our Christmas events.

We hope to see you down here!
