The television series is an adaptation of the 1981 classic The Four Seasons, which was written, directed by, and starred Alan Alda.

The updated Netflix version brings the story to a modern audience while keeping the original concept intact: a close-knit group of longtime friends who gather for seasonal getaways and find themselves navigating the challenges that come with aging, relationships, family, and friendship.
The show’s second season premiered on Netflix on May 28, 2026, taking viewers from the Catskills to the Jersey Shore and even Italy as the group experiences another year of laughter, heartbreak, unexpected twists, and personal growth. Through each vacation, viewers get a glimpse into how decades-long friendships evolve as life changes around them.
If you’re anything like us, you probably found yourself binge-watching episode after episode and halfway through you hear, seemingly out of nowhere, Bobby Rydell’s “Wildwoods Days.”
And they play almost the full song as well. The scene features the cast having fun on a Jersey shore boardwalk, in a full montage.
What is interesting, though, is that this season doesn’t take place in Wildwood, but rather Point Pleasant New Jersey on Jenkinson’s Boardwalk. Why does “Wildwood Days” play when the show isn’t in Wildwood?
The show is executive-produced by Tina Fey and her production company, Little Stranger Inc. If you know anything about Tina Fey, you would know that she visits Wildwood and Cape May almost every summer.
Fey grew up in Upper Darby and had visited the Wildwoods quite often as a kid. In many of her shows such as “30 Rock” she sometimes would leave in nods to Cape May and Wildwood.
On top of this, Colman Domingo, who is from Philly, also used to visit Cape May, something that Fey and Domingo both bonded over while filming at the Jersey Shore.
Bobby Rydell’s “Wildwoods Days” wasn’t the only Wildwood nod in the show. In the trailer leading up to the release of the second season, there are some drone shots or our beach.
It makes you wonder, why not film the whole show at the best boardwalk in the United States…(am I right?)
If I find more refernances to Wildwood on this new season, ill be sure to let you know.
